July 2026 Meeting – L M Whitaker: Using AI (Ethically) in your Writing
You probably can’t go a day without hearing about AI. But what is Artificial Intelligence really?
Author and podcaster Linda Whitaker will give us an introduction to what AI is and share ideas on how using it can help us be better, more productive writers. Learn techniques to help you save time while maintaining personal, professional, and legal boundaries.
Linda has worked in data science and artificial intelligence since 1994, when she joined a group owned by AI pioneer HNC software. In 2004, She co-founded Quantum Retail (serving as Chief Science Officer), a retail software company that uses techniques from complex systems, artificial intelligence, operations research, and simulation to form unique and innovative retail solutions. From 2017 through 2022 she worked as VP Science Delivery, for Cognira, the leading artificial intelligence solutions provider for retailers and wholesalers.
Now Linda Whitaker is an award-winning author of speculative and near-future thrillers laced with science and technology, and author of the Georgia Steele Thriller Series.
Linda also hosts From Fact To Fiction, a podcast and Substack site, facttofiction.substack.com, devoted to reviewing best-selling specialty thrillers. She is a member of North Carolina Writers’ Network and Sisters in Crime (and a former chapter president), has published short stories and craft articles, judged writing competitions, and presented at multiple writers’ events.
