Biography

Sam Staley is the author of 14 fiction and nonfiction books, writing under the pen name of SR Staley when writing fiction. His books have won more than 10 literary awards in genres as wide ranging as current affairs/politics, historical fiction, mainstream and literary fiction, young adult fiction, and new adult/coming of age. His most recent books are The Beatles and Economics: Entrepreneurship, Innovation (Routledge 2020), and the Making of a Cultural Revolution, Contemporary Film and Economics (Routledge 2018), Calusa Spirits (Bk III in the Pirate of Panther Bay series), and Unsafe On Any Campus? Sam's articles have appeared in a wide range of publications, among them the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times. His commentary has been nationally syndicated. 

Sam's day job is serving as Director of the DeVoe L. Moore Center in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy at Florida State University where he teaches courses in social entrepreneurship, urban planning, and research methods. He also serves as the chair of TWA's committee managing its Mobile Book Store (and Tallahassee Downtown Marketplace).
